About Me

Hi there! My name is Olajide Funmilola Titilayo and I come from the beautiful ‘brown-roof’ city – Ibadan, Nigeria. I am a proud graduate of the University of Ibadan. My passion for cooking was sparked by watching my paternal and maternal Grandmothers in the kitchen. They were both incredible cooks and I was always fascinated by how they could turn simple ingredients into amazing dishes.

I remember watching my Grandmother heat up palm oil to make beef stew and noticing how her stew always had a unique taste and colour that set it apart from others. This piqued my curiosity and I wanted to learn her secret. I started experimenting with different recipes and techniques, trying to replicate the flavours of my childhood.

One of the dishes I tried to replicate so badly was Amala and Ewedu with a touch of Egusi and Eru (locust beans) just the way my paternal Grandmother used to make it. As I continued to explore the kitchen, I discovered new flavors and cuisines, and soon my friends began flocking to my apartment to sample my cooking. Seeing their joy and satisfaction from my food gave me a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

Through the years, I have learned that owning my dishes and adding my personal touch is crucial in creating truly delicious meals. I have also discovered that incorporating Nigeria local spices and ingredients into my dishes gives them a unique taste making it different from others.

I will be choosing the finest products from our offer to star in my very own online store, and you will also have the chance to watch me cook with our finest local African ingredients.  We expect to be live in early June 2023. I cant wait to get started !!!

Nigerian women are renowned for their excellent cooking, particularly in the art of using local ingredients to prepare sumptuous meals. This ability can be attributed to various factors, including the use of traditional cooking methods, a blend of diverse spices and ingredients, and a rich cultural heritage of cooking. One of the primary reasons for their proficiency in the culinary arts is their reliance on traditional cooking techniques, which have been passed down through generations. These techniques involve slow-cooking, and the use of an array of spices to infuse distinct flavours into dishes. This traditional approach is the hallmark of Nigerian cuisine, and it creates a unique texture and flavour that cannot be replicated using Western ingredients or techniques.

Moreover, Nigerian women understand the art of combining the right ingredients to achieve a perfect balance of flavors. This is particularly true when using local ingredients, as they are adept at pairing complementary ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes. This skill has been developed over the years and is a significant advantage for Nigerian women when cooking.
